The beating of a green Heart

- Karsten Klintø

Can you see a tree from your window? The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is NOW. Landscape architect Karsten Klintø is the head of green planning (“Stadsgartner”) in Frederiksberg. Frederiksberg is frequently referred to as “The green heart of Copenhagen”.

A significant part of his work has centered on achieving the following single, noble goal: Making it possible for everyone in Frederiksberg to see a tree from their window. This goal has even become an official “tree policy” in our visionary city!

Karsten has for several years also been a board member of the “Dansk Træplejeforening” which is the Danish chapter of the “International Society of Arboriculture” as well as on the board of another foundation which supports research on urban trees in Norway, Sweden and Denmark (“Nordisk Fond for Bytræer”).

He has spent many years working with the development of tree plantations in the city and has always tried to make all citizens aware of the value of urban trees. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
